PTU-Goth Beauty
Inspired by one of my Divas, KCG200073
I wrote this tutorial using PSPX2 and Animation Shop3
I used the awesome art work of Elias Chatzoudis. You must have a license to use his art and you can purchase his work and obtain your license at PTE
PTU Kit: I am using another rocking kit by Tamie, called Tattoo, and you can purchase it at Dreams-n-Digital
Template used was Template 161 made by Kristin at Toxic Desirez
Don’t forget to leave her some love for sharing ;)
Plugins Used:
Tramages / Tow The Line
Dsb flux / Bright Noise
Eye Candy 4000 / Gradient Glow
Xenofex 2 / Constellation
Xero / Porcelain & Radiance
Font used:
A bite
**c&p=Copy and Paste As New Layer
**When working with duplicate layers, I always refer to them as 1st, 2nd, 3rd…from the bottom up
Ready...Set...Let's Begin;)
Open the template and Duplicate (Shift+D) and close the original. Resize your canvas: Adjust> Canvas Size *note that Lock aspect ratio in unmarked choose center under Placement
Delete Credits, Skull, Circle1 and Circle2, Glitter Stars, Right and Left Glitter Circles and arrange the right and left circles above the rectangle, change color of Right and Left Circles to a color of your choice.
CU: c&p, Duplicate 2X (hide one for now) and position the 2 visible ones to your liking over each circle (I rotated and mirrored to get the look I wanted) Activate one of your small circle layers, Select>All, Select>Float, Select>Defloat, Select>Invert, activate your CU and hit delete on keyboard; repeat for the other circle and CU; Select>Select None.
Apply Xero Porcelain with these settings to both CU’s
Change Blend Mode to Difference on both; Opacity: 30% on the bottom right one, 40% on the top left one
Activate Right Circle; Select>All, Select>Float, Select>Defloat, Select>Modify>Select Selection Borders: Select Both sides, check the Anti-alias box and Border width = 2. Activate your CU layer, open New Raster Layer, Flood fill selection with white and add dsb flux>Bright Noise to your liking…I think I used 45 & Mix. Apply Gradient Glow with a color of your choice and these settings
Repeat these steps for the Left Circle
Activate the remaining Glitter Circle and Select>All, Select>Float, Select>Defloat, open New Raster Layer, name it Frame Background, and flood fill with black and, with your new circle still selected, apply Tramages> Tow The Line with these settings
Select None and Delete the Glitter Circle
Make visible your hidden CU, arrange layer above Frame Background and apply Xero>Radiance, default settings and Duplicate and lock these 2 CU layers together. On your first CU, change Blend Mode to Luminance (L) and Opacity to 50%; 2nd CU, Blend Mode: Normal, Opacity to 37%.
Frame: c&p, resize 90%, Duplicate. Name them (from bottom up) frame 1 and frame2. Apply Gradient Glow to frame1; I used the color black and use these settings.
Position your CU layers to your liking within the frame and Merge Down your 1st CU onto you Frame Background and then merge your 2nd CU layer down. Keep your Frame Background layer active and grab your Freehand Selection Tool set to these settings
Go around your frame and select the parts of the frame background that you want to show. Mine looked like this
Select>Invert and hit Delete on the keyboard.
Desaturate your Oval: Adjust>Hue and Saturation>Hue/Saturation/Lightness
With your Manual Color Corrector, choose a medium shade of the gray in your oval for the Source color and choose a color of your choice for the target (I used #401b57)
Select the Rectangle from your template and, with your Magic Wand, click on the transparent area around it. Open a paper of your choice, c&p and hit Delete on your keyboard.
I used the same paper for my right and left rectangles. If you choose to do the same, you can cut down on your work by just arranging one above the other and merging the 2 layers together, click on the transparent area with your Magic Wand, c&p a paper of your choice and Delete
Wire: c&p, resize110% position to top left, arrange this layer down between your Frame Background and your Rectangle, Duplicate, Flip, Mirror, Merge Down with 1st wire layer.
Cross: c&p, Resize 75%, Image>Free Rotate: rotate right 25o, Sharpen: Adjust>Sharpness>Sharpen
Beads: c&p, Desaturate and, using you Manual Color Corrector, change to a color of your choice.
Stars: c&p, Resize 70%, Flip and position to liking, arrange layer below your frame1 layer.
Glitter: c&p. position, arrange layer above above Star Background layer, Duplicate Mirror, Flip, Merge Down with 1st glitter layer. I added a drop shadow with these settings
Star: c&p, position to you liking, Duplicate and Resize 75%, position and Duplicate again and position to your liking
Tattoo5: c&p, Resize 75%, Mirror, dsb flux 43
Ribbon3: c&p, Mirror, position and arrange layer to your liking
Main Tube: c&p, Duplicate, Apply Xero Radiance to the duplicate layer using the default settings, reduce opacity to 50% , merge down to main tube.
Name: I used 2 colors from my ribbon; the lightest color for my Foreground and the darkest color for my Background and these settings.
Free Rotate (Ctrl+R) the name vector 35o to the right and position.
If you are saving as a WWO, save your name vector as a vector; duplicate it and Convert To Raster, Select>All, Select>Float, Select>Defloat, Selections>Modify>Expand = 2, open New Raster Layer below your name layer (name it Name Outline, if you would like) and flood fill your selection with black (or another color, if you choose). Select None and Apply Gradient Glow, change color to black (or to match the color of your outline) and use these settings
I added a Drop Shadow to make it pop out a bit more…
Add the copyright and your license number (FYI: I always try to place this in an area so that it can not be cut out or altered without being obvious)
If you are not going to animate, add dsb flux>Bright Noise to the name
Add Drop Shadows to your liking crop and resize
If you do not know how to resize a multiple layer image, select Resize as you normally would, click on Advanced Settings and use these settings
Delete the white background, merge visible and save as a .psp, if saving as a WWO or a .png if not saving as WWO
Animation
If you are adding Drop Shadows to anything that you are animating with Constellation, make sure you do this BEFORE adding the animation and check the box Shadow on new layer; like this
Now, make Visible Only the layers between the each layer that you are going to animate, including the Drop Shadows for that animated layer and Merge Visible. Your Layers Palette should look like this
**Note that none of the name layers are included because I always save my image so that I can go back and add another name at any time
Duplicate Frame2 2x, activate your first layer and apply dsb flux with these settings
Repeat (Ctrl+Y) for the 2nd and 3rd layers, clicking on mix 2x for each layer.
Activate Frame1 again and apply Constellation with these settings
Repeat (Ctrl+Y) for the 2nd and 3rd layers, clicking on Random Seed for each layer.
Duplicate the Cross 2X, activate your first layer and apply Constellation with these settings
Repeat (Ctrl+Y) for the 2nd and 3rd layers, clicking on Random Seed for each layer.
Duplicate Tattoo5 2X and apply Constellation with the same settings, clicking on Random Seed for your 2nd and 3rd layers
Now, duplicate your merged layers 2x and make Visible Only the 1st layer of each group like this (note that mine does not include the name layers because I save as a WWO)
Activate your 1st visible layer, as you see in the screen shot above, right click on it and scroll to Merge>Merge Visible, make your merged layer invisible and repeat the same steps for the remaining 2 layers in each group. You Layers Palette should now look like this, I included the drop shadow on the name outline, on a separate layer, for reference (forgot that I could save the shadow settings...LOL)
This is where I save as a .psp for WWO’s
Activate your name layer Select>All, Select>Float, Select>Defloat, Merge Down with your outline layer and Drop Shadow (if you have one and if it is on a separate layer); Duplicate 2x. Activate your first layer and apply Bright Noise with the same settings
Repeat (Ctrl+Y) for the 2nd and 3rd layers, clicking on mix 2X for each layer.
Select>None.
Merge each name layer with its corresponding merged layer
Resize image to your liking and either save as a .psd or a .psp (animation shop) and open in AS3; or you can copy and paste your layers over into AS3, starting with your first layer and then paste the 2nd and 3rd layers After Current Frame.
Edit>Select all (Ctrl+A), Animation>Frame Properites (Alt+Enter):13, Optimize (Shift+Z)

**c&p=Copy and Paste As New Layer
**When working with duplicate layers, I always refer to them as first, second, third…from the bottom up
Open the Word Art first and change the canvas size to 900X900. I already have these layers locked so you can move them to where you want them. Almost everything that you add to this image will be below your word art
Open a New Raster layer and move it to the bottom and flood fill with white; keeping this layer active,
Open glitter2: c&p, resize110%, Adjust>Sharpness>Sharpen, Duplicate, Merge Down, Duplicate again and merge down again (this will just make your glitter a little bolder)…now, apply Drop Shadow set to this color #866211 and these settings
Open paper of your choice (I used p6), c&p as new layer above glitter2 layer
Frame4: c&p, apply Gradient Glow, under the Color Tab: select Fat, change the Color to: #4a6a2e on both of the color boxes; under the Basic tab, these settings
With your magic wand, select the transparent area within your frame and expand your selection by like 10 pixels, invert selection, activate your paper layer and hit delete on your keyboard
Activate your frame layer; Open clover: c&p, mirror, position to the left of your frame, slightly overlapping your frame, Duplicate, mirror and arrange the duplicate layer down to just above your glitter2 layer
Activate your frame layer again
Open balloons: c&p, resize 75%, mirror, position to your liking
Text on balloons: font Celtic, size: 20, leading: 0.350, set your foreground color to #ffff8b, background to #8b5901, select foreground/background gradient and set the Angle: 283o, Repeats: 3, Rotate 25o right, Convert to Raster, Apply Gradient Glow: Under the Color tab, select Diffuse and change the color to black, under the Basic tab, use these settings
Duplicate and rotate 25o left. Position the second layer over the balloon in the back
Activate your balloon layer and, with your magic wand set to these settings
Click on the outer, dark part of your front balloon. My selection looked like this
Activate your second text layer and erase all the text in the selected area, Select None and finish erasing the text that is overlapping the front balloon
Butterfly: resize 80%, rotate 15o left, position to liking
Hat: resize 65%, rotate15o right
Bow: resize 80%, rotate 10o right
Clover4: resize 75%
Ribbon4: resize 80% rotate 65o
Horseshoe: resize 36%, position over ribbon4, we are going to wrap the ribbon around the bottom of the horseshoe
Duplicate ribbon4 and arrange the layer above the horse shoe, name this layer ribbon wrap.
Activate your horse shoe layer, Select>Select All>Select Float>Select Defloat
Activate your second ribbon layer (above the horseshoe) and erase the parts of the ribbon that you don’t want covering your horseshoe, Select None and erase the remaining parts of the ribbon that you don’t need.
Apply drop shadows to your first ribbon layer and to the horseshoe and make sure that you check the box Shadow on new layer just below your color box. I add shadow both directions so if you do this, you want to merge your shadows so that you only have one shadow layer for each element. We need to copy parts of these shadows to give your wrap a 3D look…lock all of these layers together
Activate your horseshoe layer: Select >Select All>Select Float>Select Defloat
Activate your ribbon shadow layer and copy
Activate your horseshoe layer and open New Raster layer, under Edit, scroll down and select Paste Into Selection. Erase the parts of your shadow that you don’t want…you want your eraser to have a soft edge. I used these settings
Check your ribbon edges that are above your horseshoe layer and, if necessary, clean up with the eraser so that the shadow of the horseshoe shows over your ribbon in behind or you can repeat the above steps the opposite way to get your shadow over the ribbon
potofgold: resize 75%
Coins: resize 40%, sharpen, position over pot of gold, duplicate and mirror and then duplicate both and position around to your liking…merge gold coins and potofgold and resize again 95%
Bow2: resize 75%
Activate your main tube layer
Open Sparkles2: c&p, mirror and position over main tube
Activate your main tube layer, Select>Select All>Select Float>Select Defloat
Activate your sparkles2 layer and erase parts of the sparkles so that it appears to wrap around the main tube, Select None (No drop shadow on sparkles)
Apply drop shadows to liking
Add copyright and license info
Make your sparkles2 layer and your Kiss My Clover Word art layers, invisible, merge visible
Make your sparkles2 layer visible and Desaturate.
Using your Manual Color Corrector, change your Source to this color #aeaeae and your Target to this color #e6ca52, click OK, Adjust>Brightness and Contrast>Brightness/Contrast with these settings Brightness:10, Contrast:0, click OK and Duplicate layer 2X
Activate your first layer and apply Constellation with these settings
Repeat for the second and third layers, clicking on random seed for each of them
Make the 3 Word art layers visible and activate the one named Word Art
Select All>Select Float>Select Defloat, Merge Down 2X so that all of your Word Art is one layer and Duplicate that layer 2X.
Apply Bright Noise with these settings
Repeat on the 2nd and 3rd layers clicking on mix 2X for each layer
Select None
Name: I used the Jellyka font, same colors and gradient settings as you did with the text on the balloons but change the Angle to 278o
Set your Kerning to 25
Rotate your name vector 30o left, Convert To Raster
(I love Gradient Glow for the outline, so you see this in my tuts a lot for the name outlines)
Apply Gradient Glow…select fat under the Color tab and change both the color boxes to #3c552a and use these settings under the Basic tab.
Add Drop Shadow if you desire and merge with your name layer
Now, Duplicate your merged layer and your name layer 2X.
Make Visible Only the first layer of each group and activate the first visible layer and Merge Visible, make this layer invisible and repeat the same steps for your second and third layers…
Make Visible Only the first layer of each group and activate the first visible layer and Merge Visible, make this layer invisible and repeat the same steps for your second and third layers…
Mine is going to look a little different than yours because I have the wink and mine is actually 12 layers
Either save this as a .psd or a .psp(animation shop) file and open in AS3 or Copy and Paste your layers over into AS3, Select All, Frame Properties:13, Optimize

I wrote this tut using PSPX2 and Animation Shop3
**c&p=Copy and Paste As New Layer
**When working with duplicate layers, I always refer to them as first, second, third…from the bottom up
Don’t forget to save often;)
I am using another awesome work of art, Glimmer, by Keith Garvey. You must have a license to use his art and you can purchase his work at PTE
(my license is different cuz I got this tube when he was at MPT)
I am using yet another gorgeous kit called Pure Poison by Tamie and you can purchase that at Dreams-N-Digital
I used a mask by Vaybs: DBV Mask97 you can get that here
The template is one that I made for this tag and you can get it here
Plugins used:
dsb flux / Bright Noise

Open template, delete credits and resize canvas to 900x900 pixels; make sure the middle box is selected to keep your template centered
Open frame: c&p, resize at 80% and move to left of template
Open your tubes: c&p CU below your frame layer, mirror and position inside your frame. c&p your main tube as the top layer
Activate your frame layer and grab you Magic Wand with these settings
Select all the transparent areas in the frame, Selections>Modify>Expand. Open new Raster layer below CU, and flood fill with color of choice.
Apply Filters Unlimited 2.0: Under the Navigator Tab select Paper Textures, in the next column over, select Fibrous Paper, Fine; change Intensity to 175 and click on Apply. This is your frame background layer
Activate your CU layer: select Selections>Invert, delete, Select None

Activate your CU layer: Selections>Select All, Selections>Float, Selections>Defloat, Activate your frame background layer and open New Raster Layer and flood fill your selection with black or white. (black will make your CU edges appear softer)
Activate your CU layer and apply Xero>Porcelain with these settings
change the Blend Mode to Luminance (L), Duplicate and change blend mode to Normal and
reduce the opacity to 65%
Activate your rectangle1 layer and, with your magic wand, select the transparent area around it.
Open p12: c&p, position to your liking and hit delete on your keyboard. I used the same paper for all the vertical rectangles (rectangles 1, 2 &3) and just moved it around for each rectangle. So, repeat these steps for 2 & 3 or use different papers for each one...
On the large rectangle, I used p9
On the circle, I used p8
On rectangle4, I used p7
Open doodle: c&p, position to your liking and arrange the layer to just above your background layer.

Open heart2: c&p, resize 50%, arrange below the bow3 layer
Activate your background layer and open New Raster Layer and flood fill with a color of your choice; this will be your mask layer
Open your mask and minimize. Right click on your mask layer and scroll up to New Mask Layer> From Image and select Vaybs mask from the drop down menu
I used my pick tool set on Scale to adjust my mask to my liking.
Duplicate your main tube layer and apply Xero>Radiance with the default settings and reduce opacity to 40%, Merge down
Add your copyright and license number
If you want a drop shadow on any element or text, that you plan to animate, make sure that you have the Shadow on new layer box checked.
Merge your non animated layers between each layer that you are animating:
Make Visible Only your outer circle frame and all layers below it and Merge Visible, make Invisible
Make Visible Only the layer between your inner circle frame and the frame that we used from the kit, including the drop shadow to that frame, if you used one, Merge Visible, make Invisible
Now do the same with all the layers above your frame.
View all
Activate your constellation layer from your template and duplicate 2X, apply Constellation with these settings.
be sure to click on Random Seed for the second and third layer.

Mine looked something like this
Apply Constellation with these settings
Make sure you click on Random Seed for the second and third layers
Name: I used the Multi-Aqua gradient, Angle: 255, Repeats: 0; rotate 15o to the right (It was a bit too bright for my liking with this tag so this is what I did) Convert to Raster, Duplicate. Changed the first layer to white with one simple step…Adjust>Hue and Saturation>Hue/Saturation/Lightness
Reduce the opacity of the second layer to 50%, Merge Down and Duplicate, name the first layer “name outline” and the second layer “name”.
Activate your name outline layer and apply Gradient Glow…select fat under the Color tab and these settings under the Basic tab.
Duplicate your layer 2X and apply Constellation with these settings
Make sure to click on Random Seed for the second and third layers.
Duplicate your name layer 2X and apply Bright Noise set at 40 and Mix, click on mix 2X for your second and third layers.
Now go back to all of your non animated layers that you merged and duplicate each 2X
Make Visible Only the first layer of each group, activate your first visible layer and Merge Visible, make this merged layer Invisible and repeat the above steps for the second and third layers.
Make all 3 layers visible
Crop and resize to your liking
For those of you who don’t know how to resize your image, click on advanced settings and make sure these boxes are checked
Either save as a .psd or a .psp (animation shop) file, or copy your first layer and Paste As New Animation in AS3, copy second layer and Paste After Current Frame and do the same with the third layer.

If you don’t want to animate your heart frame, you can delete the white background layer, merge visible and save as a .png
If you want to save it as a WWO, make your name vector invisible, merge visible and save as a .psp
Heart frame animation: Grab your Magic Wand and change the Match Mode to Brightness and Tolerance to 10, select the diamonds that are showing, Duplicate that layer 2X, add Constellation to each layer with these settings
Remember to click on Random Seed for your second and third layers.
Make all the layers below your heart frames Visible, Merge Visible, Duplicate2X
Make all the layers above your heart frames Visible (don’t include the name vector if you are saving this as a WWO), Merge Visible, Duplicate2X
Now we have 3 groups of 3.
From the bottom up, I refer to the layers in each group as first, second and third.
Make Visible Only the first layer of each group, activate the first visible layer (the bottom layer) and Merge Visible. Now, make this layer invisible. Repeat these steps for the 2nd and 3rd layers of each group and now we have 3 merged layers (and your name vector, if this is a WWO)
Resize to your liking
Save as a .psp
Animation Shop 3
I also save my image without the name vector as a .psd (you can save as .psp(Animation Shop)...I just don't) and open it in Animation Shop3. Select All (Ctrl+A), Frame Properties (Alt+Enter) change to 13 and click OK. Keep all frames selected still
Back in PSP, I copy the name and Paste As A New Animation (Ctrl+V) in Animation Shop3, Duplicate (Ctrl+L) 2X so that you have 3 layers of the name. Select All (Ctrl+A), Copy (Ctrl+C), Close the name.
Edit>Paste>Into Selected Frame (Ctrl+E), position the name in the heart and left click.

I wrote this tutorial using PSPX2 and Animation Shop3
I wrote this tutorial using PSPX2 and Animation Shop3
This is how I make my tags (til I learn an easier way) for WWO’s, so everything is done and merged and the name is left as a vector and saved as a .psp file so that all I have to do is change the name. The program will keep your font and color the same.
(if anyone reading this, with some tips on how to make this faster and easier, feel free to contact me;)
I am using the artwork of Elias Chatzoudis. You must have a license to use his art and you can purchase it at MPT and, if he’s not there, he’s at PTE
I am using a gorgeous PTU Scrapkit called Angeliki by Addictive Pleasures; you can purchase it at Dreams-n-Digital.
I am using one of Vix awesome Masks: Vix_Mask431 and you can find that here
(don’t forget to leave her some love at the bottom of her homepage)
I’m providing you with a very simple template that you can download here
Plug-ins you will need:
DSB Flux> Bright Noise
Alien Skin Xenofex 2>Constellation
Xero>Radiance
Jeux de lignes>Entrelacement
Eye Candy 4000>Gradient Glow
Font used: Broadway
**c&p = copy and paste as new layer
DON’T FORGET TO SAVE OFTEN
Open my template and resize the canvas to 900x900 (I start big and resize when I’m done) Activate the background layer and fill the transparent area with white
Open Frame 2 from your kit and c&p above your Frame1 layer, name it Frame2.
Move that frame up with your pick tool and in the “Position Y” box change the number from 216.00 to 183.00
Take your magic wand and select the area inside frame 2 and expand your selection by 5 or so, Selections>Modify>Expand and then Invert Selections>Invert
Open Paper1, c&p below Frame 2 and hit delete on your keyboard. Selections>Select None. Duplicate your paper layer and on the duplicate layer apply Entrelace with these settings
reduce opacity to 30%. Keeping that layer active, open your CU and c&p. Position within the frame to your liking. Click on your frame layer to make it active and select the area inside the frame again. Return to your close up layer and Expand, Invert and Delete like you did you with your paper.
Apply Xero Radiance default settings and change the Blend Mode to Luminance (L), opacity 56%. Duplicate, apply Gaussian Blur set to 3.00, Blend Mode> Soft Light, Opacity 80%
Activate your Raster1 Layer and, with your Magic Wand, click once on the transparent area. Open Paper 9, c&p and hit Delete on your keyboard.
Activate your yellow rectangle layer and apply Blinds. Effects>Texture Effects>Blinds
With these settings,
change the color to #bfa707 click OK, change the layer opacity to 40%
Open Bow, c&p above the Frame 2 layer, rotate 15o to the left and resize 75%, position at top of Frame 2
Open Butterfly, c&p, rotate 25o to the right, resize 75%, position at the top left
Open Flower 2, c&p, resize 75%, position at bottom right.
Open Cloud, c&p, and move to the bottom of the design
Open Pillow, c&p, position to the left of the flower just overlapping the edges of the flower.
Open your tube, c&p, move her down so that she is resting on the pillow.
Open Beads2, c&p, Desaturate: Adjust>Hue and Saturation>Hue/Saturation/Lightness,
Manual Color Change from Source #c8c8c8 to Target #5298ce, rotate 45o left, resize 75%, position top right, move layer down below tube layer.
Activate Frame 1 layer. Open Ribbon, c&p, move layer down below tube layer, Desaturate and change color using the same settings as you just used with the beads.
Activate Frame 2 and with your Magic Wand setting at Match mode>Color, Tolerance 12, select the inner white part of Frame2, invert selection, repeat same steps to recolor, as for the beads and ribbons. While were on this frame, Invert selection again, multiply 2x apply Bright Noise to all 3 layers, click 2x on Mix for each layer.
Open Feathers, c&p, position to side of frame2, move the layer down above your paper 9 layer (which is the paper you used for Raster 1), make sure it is positioned to your liking and then duplicate, mirror, merge down
Open Feather: c&p, mirror, position to left and above the frame2 layer.
Open Hearts: c&p, resize 50%, mirror, position to bottom left, move the layer down to just above your cloud layer.
Open Doodle-c&p, flip, using your Pick Tool change Position X: from 216.00 to 300.00, change Position Y: from 369.00 to 109.00. Duplicate, mirror, merge down, duplicate, flip, merge down, move this layer below Raster 1.
Add your name and center near the bottom of your image and leave it as a Vector for now, and arrange it at the top of of your layers
Open Halo: c&p, as your top layer, using your Manual Color Correction tool change the Source to #e6e5bc and Target to #e6e5bc click OK, rotate 45o left, resize 55%, position over the beginning of the name, duplicate and name the layer Halo, activate the first (lower) Halo layer and apply Gaussian Blur at 1.00 (I added a faint shadow to this layer and merged them) lock these 2 Halo layers together (you will need to move them for different names)
Activate the background layer and open a new raster layer above it. This will be your mask layer…select a color of your choice I used #95d6f8
Open your mask and minimize. Right click on your mask layer and scroll up to New Mask Layer and select From Image, click on the arrow next to the box and select your mask,
while your mask layer is active, you can use your Pick Tool set on scale and bring your corners in just a bit to where you want them. Once you have your mask to your liking, right click on mask layer and scroll up to Merge and click on Merge Group.
Drop Shadows: I am a drop shadow freak! Add drop shadows to suit your taste.
One thing that I will tell you though is that, if you are going to apply Constellation in an animated image, you want to add your drop shadow on a separate layer BEFORE you duplicate your layers and add the Constellation. I added drop shadows to everything except the CU, the papers, Angel Eyes, Constellation Layer,
Now would be a good time to find a place to put the Artist Copyright info and your license number# and any other credits you might like to add.
I do things a bit different since I’m new at this and I animate so many different layers.
I’m hoping to learn faster and easier ways to do this, as I go along
So…here we go with the animation
We already added the Bright Noise to Frame2
We are going to merge the layers that are not animated and leave the ones that are, to stand alone. If you have added a drop shadow to anything that’s going to stand alone for animation, you will include that drop shadow with layers that you merge below each one of them.
Make visible only all the layer below Frame1 and merge visible (Frame 1 stands alone)
Make visible only the layers between Frame1 and Frame2, neither frame should be showing, Merge Visible (Frame 2 and the 2 copies stand alone)
Make visible only the layers between Copy (2) of Frame2 and the one named Constellation layer, Merge Visible (Constellation Layer Stands Alone)
You will want your Halo (Both layers in the correct order) at the top, your name vector second layer down, tube and butterfly will be 3rd and 4th layer from the top. (these layers will all stand alone)
Make visible only the 5th layer down through (including) the Angel Eyes Layer, including the drop shadows for your tube and your butterfly, if you have them. Merge Visible (remember not to include the Constellation layer)
NOW LET’S ANIMATE
From the bottom up, I refer to the layers in each group as first, second and third.
Activate Frame 1, duplicate 2X. Activate the first layer and add Bright Noise with these settings
Activate the second layer, hit Ctrl+Y, click on Mix 2X and then OK, repeat these steps on your third layer
Activate the Constellation Layer and Duplicate 2X. Activate the first layer and apply Constellation with these settings
Activate the second layer, hit Ctrl+Y, click on Random Seed and OK, repeat these steps on the third layer
Activate your Butterfly layer, Duplicate 2X. With your Magic Wand set at Mode: Add, Match mode: Color, Tolerance: 10, Select random areas mine looked something like this
Activate your first layer and apply Constellation with these settings
Activate the second layer, hit Ctrl+Y, click on Random Seed and OK, repeat these steps on the third layer.
Select None
Activate the tube layer, duplicate 2X, using you Magic Wand, select the lighter colors within the halo. This is was what I selected
Activate your first tube layer and apply Constellation with these settings.
Activate the second layer, hit Ctrl+Y, click on Random Seed and OK, repeat these steps on the third layer.
Select None
Still on your tube, use your Magic Wand and change the Tolerance to 30 and select the wings. Activate the first layer and add Bright Noise set at with these settings.
Activate the next layer up, hit Ctrl+Y, click on mix 2X and OK, repeat these steps on the third layer
Select None
Activate your top layer, which should be your name halo, Duplicate2X, they should all automatically lock together, if not, you need to lock them all together just in case you need to move them to fit a name
Using your magic wand, select some of the halo, this was what my selection looked like
activate your first Halo layer (3rd layer down from the top) and apply Constellation with these settings
Activate the second layer, hit Ctrl+Y, click on Random seed and OK, repeat these steps for the third layer
Activate your Halo Background layer, Duplicate2X, move 2 up under the each of the other Halo layers and merge each Halo down to the Halo Background.
Now go back to the layers that you merged and Duplicate each one 2X. You now have multiple groups of 3
We are going to merge all the layers EXCLUDING the name vector and the Name Halo layers
Make Visible Only the first layer of each group (excluding the name vector and the name halo) activate your first visible layer that is closest to the bottom of your layers palette and Merge Visible. Make your Merged Layer invisible. Repeat the same steps with layers 2 and 3.
Now your layers palette should look like this
This is where I save my Image as a WWO Template as a .psp file
Change the name to a Raster Layer and Duplicate. Activate the first Name layer and apply Gradient Glow under the Colors tab, choose Fat and under the Basic tab, these settings.
I applied drop shadows to this layer. Activate you second name layer Select>All, Select>Float, Select>Defloat, Merge Down including your drop shadows, Duplicate 2X. Activate your first name layer and apply Bright Noise at 40 and Mix. Hit Ctrl+Y, click on Mix 2X and OK, repeat these steps for the third layer.
Now, make visible the first layer of each group...Just like we did a bit ago(Your Design, The Name, Name Halo), Merge Visible. Make your merged layer invisible. Repeat these steps for the second and third layers.
Crop and Resize to your preference
You can save this as a .psd or as a .psp(animation shop) and open in AS and animate or you can copy your first layer and paste it in AS as a new animation, then copy the second layer and Paste After Current Frame and do the same with the third layer
Select All, change your Frame Properties to 13 and click OK.
Animate with the Optimization Wizard
OMG…WERE FINALLY DONE
Oh yah...CRAP! I forgot...I also added constellation to the arrow through the hearts but I am SO done with this tut and I’m sure, after all of this, you can figure out how to do it if you want to…lol

Blue Winter
I created this tag on October 16th, 2010. It was inspired by my dear friend Vaybs. Any resemblance to any other tag is strictly by coincidence. I am now going back and writing a tut on how I made it and so there may be a couple of things that I won’t be able to tell you exactly how I did it
This tutorial is written for those with a knowledge of PSP and I wrote it using PSPX2
and Jasc Animation Shop 3.
Fair Warning...this is my first tutorial
LET’S BEGIN
I’m using the awesome artwork of Elias Chatzoudis. You must have a license to use his artwork and you can purchase his art at MPT.
I have used elements from 3 different scrap kits:
PTU: Winter Magic by Addictive Pleasures can be purchased here
FTU: Ice Princess by Fantasy Moments can be downloaded here
FTU: Winter Impressions by Fantasy Moments can be downloaded here
Mask used is WSL_Mask254 from Weescotslass Creations here
A snow animation of your choice or you can use this one here.
I don't remember where I got it. If it is yours or you know who it belongs to, please let me know so that I can give proper credit

Plug ins used:
DSB Flux>Bright Noise
Pentacom >Jeans
Xero>Porcelain
Font: Frosty
HERE WE GO
Open a new canvas of 970x800, flood fill with white.
Copy and paste your tube and CU into your image as new layers and make your CU invisible, for now.
Open Frame2.png from Winter Magic, select Image>Mirror. I adjusted the blue tint just a bit using the Manual Color Correction.
With your magic wand, select the area inside the upper right frame circle. Expand selection by 2. Open new raster layer below frame and flood fill selection with a medium color from your tube. Apply Pentacom> Jeans with default settings. Select>None.
Make your CU visible, mirror it and position it inside the frame. Change Blend Mode to Luminance Legacy and an opacity of 88%. Duplicate and apply Xero>Porcelain with default settings, Blend Mode Normal and an opacity of 44%. Activate your Jeans Background layer and with your Magic Wand, select the transparent area. Activate your 1st CU layer, hit and hit your Delete Key and do the same on the second CU layer. Merge the first CU layer down on to the Jeans background and then merge the 2nd CU layer down.
Open bg.jpg from Winter Magic, copy and paste as New Layer below the frame layer, resize 75%. (You are going to have to play with this one to get the tint that you want.) De-saturate: Adjust> Hue and Saturation Saturation= 0, Lightness = 0. Adjust> Brightness and Contrast> Brightness/Contrast> Brightness = 5 and Contrast = -1. Selections>Select All, Selections>Float, Selections Defloat, add new raster layer, Blend Mode> Overlay. Now fill selected area with a color from your tube and then kinda play with the colors til you get the tint that you want.
Merge the overlay layer down on to your background layer and position in lower left circle of frame. Using your magic wand, select the area inside the circle and expand by 2 invert selection, activate bg layer and hit delete. I suggest that you lock these layers together. Resize frame, bg and CU images by 90%. Position your tube in front of the frame.
From the Winter Impressions kit:
Element-14 as new layer on top for visibility. Use you Magic Wand with these settings Mode = Add, Match Mode = Color, Tolerance = 24, Feather = 0. Select all the blue color and De-saturate. Using the Manual Color Correction, choose a medium gray color from your element and change to a color from your tube. Invert Selection, Adjust>Brightness and Contrast>Brightness/Contrast set Brightness = 25, Contrast=13. Select None. Bring layer down to second from the bottom and position to the left.
From the Ice Princess kit:
Element-19: Mirror, Desaturate and recolor using the Manual Color Correction. Bring Layer down to just above your tree and position to the right. Element-46: desaturate, recolor, resize by 55% and position at the top of the bottom left circle of the frame. Element-76: desaturate, recolor, resize by 37% and position at the top of the right circle of the frame. Element-77: I used the lasso to select the blue gems, desaturate, recolor, select none, resize 50%. Position to right of frame.
From the Winter Magic Kit:
Snowflake2: Resize by 50 %, duplicate and merge down. Duplicate your snowflake 2X and position the 3 snowflakes in your image. Glitter2: Position to right and bring layer down below ribbon. Snow.png: Position layer to the right and over the legs on your tube. Swirl3: Position along the bottom over the legs. Snowflake4: Rotate 450 , position to the left over the tree and frame.
Activate your bottom layer and open a new raster layer. Flood fill with the color of your choice or copy and paste one of the papers and apply the Mask.
Add the artist’s copyright and your license number. I usually apply Eye Candy 4000>Gradient Glow to this text to make it stand out better.
Apply Drop Shadows to your liking. I’m a drop shadow freak and apply drop shadows to everything but the mask. I used a dark blue from my tube for my drop shadow color.
Now for the snow animation:
I do things a little different than most ppl do.
Make only your layers that are below your frame visible, your frame and everything above it will not be visible. Merge visible. Select View All and with your Magic Wand, select the transparent area inside your frame, expand by 2, then make your merged bottom layer invisible and Merge Visible. You should now have just 2 layers with marching ants around the edge of the inside of the frame. Activate your bottom layer and open a new Raster Layer and name it “Snow”, duplicate 9X (You want as many layers as your snow animation…the one I am using has 10 layers). Working from the bottom up on both images, open your snow animation and make only the first layer visible. In your materials, choose patterns, and select your snow. Activate your 1st snow layer and fill your selected area. Go back to your snow animation and make only the second layer visible, open your materials and select the new Snow pattern (NOT THE ONE THAT SAYS CURRENT PATTERN). Activate your 2nd Snow layer in your image and fill your selected area. Repeat these steps until you have all 10 layers of Snow.
Duplicate both of your merged layers 9X. Make only your first layer of all 3 groups visible; activate the bottom layer and Merge Visible. Make the merged layer invisible and make the first of each group visible, activate the bottom visible layer and Merge Visible. Repeat these steps until you have 10 merged layers. I save this as a PSP file so that I can come back and add a name.
For the name, I used the Frosty font in white, rotated it by 150 to the left. Convert to Raster, Select All, Select>Float, Select>Defloat, Expand by 2. Open new Raster Layer below the name layer and fill selection with a dark color of your choice. Select None and add drop shadow. Activate Name Layer, Select>All, Select>Float, Select>Defloat, merge name layer down with outline layer and again with the shadow layer, duplicate 9X. Activate 1st name layer and apply DSB Flux>Bright Noise set at 40 and Mixed. Activate 2nd name layer and hit Ctrl+Y to open up Bright Noise again, click 2X on mixed and OK. Activate 3rd layer and repeat these steps for all of your name layers. Select None. Arrange your layers so that each name layer is above the corresponding merged layers and then merge each name layer down to it’s merged layer. Resize your image to the desired size and save as a PSD or PSP Animation Shop file. Open in Animation Shop and Animate.
I realize that the wink is not included. You may see this type of animation in other creations of mine but I will not be providing a tutorial on how to do it.
